The Balloons are BACK!

Posted by admin in You should be at

If you were driving around town this morning then you may have seen a bunch of hot air balloons afloat our beautiful City of Trees!  The Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic is bringing back the hot air balloon tradition we loved so much when the Boise River Fest was an annual event.  Nearly 30 hot air balloons will be participating from September 2nd - 5th including a Night Glow Light Show and Live Concert Saturday night from 6pm - 10pm in Ann Morrison Park.  This event is to celebrate 100 years of flight in Idaho.  So if you are looking for an amazing family friendly event then this is your gig.

In addition, there will be a Candlight Vigil to show support for the prevention of child abuse.  This is being done in conjunction with the Spirit Of Boise Balloon rally and Night Glow.  It will also be held at Ann Morrison Park on Saturday night. To participate, plan to arrive with your own candle around 6:00pm and it the vigil will start about 7:00pm.  Check out the video Peak has done to spread the word about this important issue and to raise further awareness.

Weekend of FUN!

Posted by admin in You should be at

There is so much to do this weekend in our beautiful City of Trees!  Whether you'll be eating deep fried Oreo's at the fair or not, we have some fun events a little further away from the Carnies.

First up - The Big LeBoise - The Boise Weekly Block Party Saturday from 10am to 10pm.  Here's are some deets from their site:

We're completely shutting down Broad Street in front of the Boise Weekly offices, and starting bright and early at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28, you can wave goodbye to your hangover with our Bloody Mary contest finals while kicking it with the craftiest crafters this side of Craftsville. At 11 a.m., Sherpa kicks off a long day of local music. Hillfolk Noir takes over at noon, New Transit is at 1 p.m., Boise Rock School follows at 2 p.m., Trevor Kamplain from ATTN takes the reins at 3 p.m., Fauxbois rocks out at 4 p.m., Finn Riggins commandeers the stage at 5 p.m. and a sweet dance party gets kicking at 6:30 p.m. and runs until 10 p.m.

Next up - The A.L.P.H.A. 7th Annual HIV and AIDS Award show.  This organization has done a tremendous job spreading education about HIV and AIDS in Idaho.  A little snipit from their site regarding the event:

6pm - Cocktails in Fireside Lounge, 7pm-10pm - Dinner & Awards SHOW.  This is an evening set aside to THANK all of those who have worked so hard locally on HIV and AIDS and surrounding issues. 10pm - Awards are presented to the community for leadership, education, care philanthropy and volunteerism. THIS IS A FREE EVENT FOR THOSE INVITED - THOSE INVITED ARE THE WHO's WHO of the LOCAL HIV AND AIDS COMMUNITY (250-300 guests) There are 100-150 extra seats this year available for purchase at $35 a ticket or $60 for a pair. TO PURCHASE TICKETS CONTACT a.l.p.h.a. at 208.424.7799.

And lastly - The 2nd Annual Curb Cup!  Here's the info from their site:

On Sunday, August 29, much of Downtown Boise will be a stage – where entertainment and performance all come to life on our streets and sidewalks.

Destined to be a must-attend, gotta-participate annual signature event for our community, the Curb Cup 2 will feature hundreds of performers and thousands of voter attendees...all in one great circus of creativity in the heart of our city. It’s all free. It’s all fun. And, it’s all to celebrate who we are, where we live, and how we express ourselves.

The event is planned for 8th Street from Jefferson to BoDo, the Grove.  The event runs from 1 pm to 4 pm. So, make an afternoon of it.  And...of course, our award we're giving out:  FameFifteen -  Should be a Local Celebrity.

Enjoy all the summer festivities...even though it'll be 70 degrees outside.  See everyone out and about in downtown Boise!
